Individuals who wish to be married must appear together and in person to apply for a marriage license in the Clerk’s Office on the 1st Floor of the Cass County Courthouse, 200 Court Park, Logansport.

Applications are available from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday-Friday.

Marriage Licenses may be issued to couples if one party is a resident of Cass County. If neither the bride nor groom are an Indiana resident, we can only issue a license if they plan to be married in Cass County.

A marriage license expires sixty (60) days after it is issued and is only valid in the State of Indiana. You will receive the license the same day that you apply. There is no “waiting period”.

Licenses may only be issued to couples that consist of one man and one women. IC31-11-1-1 states: Only a female may marry a male. Only a male may marry a female, marriage between persons of the same gender is void in Indiana even if the marriage is lawful in the place where it is solemnized.

Fees
Indiana Residents: $18.00
Residents of any other state: $60.00

Only cash is accepted for Payment. The fee includes one certified copy of the marriage license.

Required Documents
One of the following must be presented for each individual:

• valid government issued identification that shows a date of birth and current address
• certified copy of state-issued birth certificate
• passport, military identification or discharge papers which contains the date of birth

Age
Applicants at least 18 years of age may marry without special consent. According to IC 31-11-2, persons who are 17 years of age must apply for the license with both parents or the person with legal custody who must sign the consent portion of the application. Individuals 16 years of age or younger must petition the court as shown under IC 31-1-6.
